For the first time since 2012, I’m going to the American Christian Fiction Writers Conference! To say I’m excited is a serious understatement. I could literally sit you down all day and count the ways this conference is awesome—panels and discussions, the genre dinner, awards gala and even celebrity sightings! And the food….this is a category unto itself because it’s always scrumptious, and everyone knows that conference calories don’t count.
Without further ado, here are my top 5 reasons to attend the ACFW conference:
5. Education—the continuing education, workshops and panels are excellent. To top it off, this year’s early bird class will be taught by Donald Maass. You heard me………….Donald. Maass. In addition to the formal classes, keep your ears open in the hallways and at the meals where there is so much conversation about the industry you’ll be exploding with ideas.
4. Worship—it’s not just the actual praise and worship, but the spirit of worship that permeates the entire conference. Being surrounded by writers dedicating their craft to God just soaks into your bones and refreshes you in ways you can’t imagine.
3. Access to industry professionals—there are 16 editors and 14 agents planning to attend this year’s event. Not only that, but published authors and writers who have been immersed in the industry and are willing to share their knowledge are everywhere you turn.
2. Ted Dekker—really, nothing more needs to be said.
And the #1 reason to attend the ACFW conference is:
1. Relationships—there is nothing like the bond you form with other Christian writers. And if you don’t know anyone? Don’t worry, it won’t take long. My fellow writers are not only talented but they love, they give, and they know how to have fun!
Now that you’re convinced that attending the ACFW Conference is, in fact, the smartest thing you can do for your writing career, you can click on the picture for more details:
If you’re serious about your writing career, consider coming to the conference. You’ll be thankful you did!
