Raise your hand if you’re sick of having to rethink what you’re doing or the way you’re doing it! (Me, me, me!)
While we’re probably all OVER it, I have the sinking feeling we’re not over it.
The good news is, there’s power in a good old-fashioned pivot.
I don’t know about you, but when circumstances outside of my control force me to change, I go into full resistance mode. I’m a creature of habit. I thrive on routine. I live for boring.
Needless to say, this year sucks, and yet…
Good things are coming.
I’ve had to rework some plans—back to that whole pivot thing—and figure out where to go from here. You see, what I was doing wasn’t working anyways, but because of my weird anti-risk personality I hadn’t changed up my goals. Fast forward to today, and I’ve got a whole lot to look forward to with a new plan in the hopper!
It’s a great time to take a look at what hasn’t been working in our lives and switch it up, move the ball in a new direction, and (dare I say it?) take a little risk. At this point, what’s the worst thing that could happen? (Hahaha….never ask that question, right???)
Is there an area of your life where you’re stagnant? Is there a goal you have reached or an unmet dream? Maybe with a little finessing, you can rework the plan and find joy in the journey. With the world changing around us, it’s a great time to try something new on purpose. The one thing we can take charge of is ourselves and the goals we set.
What am I pivoting towards, you ask? Well, I’ll tell you…I’m going to indie publish! Yup, you heard it right. I’m branching out and taking a risk. Will I sell 5,000 copies or just two (thanks Mom and Dad!) Will I be received by the cheering throngs of thousands, or will I disappear into a void? Do I have the self-discipline to see it through, or will I chuck it all and go on a Netflix binge? (Extremes much? LOL!)
Anyhoo, I’m going back to my comedy roots, because frankly it’s just a whole lot of fun. And who doesn’t need a laugh right now? Also, I crack myself up…I’m not sure what that says about me. Here’s hoping you hang in there with me as I start my new adventure and write cozy mysteries! Who knew murder could be so hilarious?
So here’s a question for you: how have you pivoted these last several months? What are you taking charge of and changing in your life and/or your business? Inquiring minds want to know!
