As promised, today I’m giving you a sneak peek inside my bullet journal. It’s not as pretty and flashy as some, but it’s more decked out than others. The important thing is, it works for me!
What I needed was a combined planner/to-do list/tracker/journal. Try finding one of those at the bookstore—you can’t, because they don’t exist. When I first heard about the bullet journal system, it sounded like another planner, until I realized that I could take a blank book and completely customize it to my needs.
Let me give you the grand tour:
You can see my monthly calendar at the top, where I record all our appointments and any place we must be. While many bullet journalists skip this type of monthly and opt for a list, my brain just doesn’t work that way. Rather than breaking the month into weeks, I go ahead and skip forward to days. Lots of people have a separate spread for “gratitude” and “food,” but I prefer to keep it combined with my daily to-do’s, that way I can remember what I’m thankful for in conjunction with what was happening on a particular day. I also include “notes” at the bottom for random extras.
Above is my habit tracker, because they are items that should be completed regularly. (For the record, I don’t consider reading the Bible a task, per se, but I list it to keep myself accountable.) I also added a flowering vine because hey, it makes me happy! You can also see quite a bit of ghosting through the page.
A new favorite spread of mine is my weight tracker. Believe it or not, having to write my weight down every single morning helps me focus on eating well. Or at least better. Scarfing down chips at night never pays off the next morning. I speak from experience.
The other two monthly spreads I do are for prayer request and income/expenses. Obviously these two are pretty personal so I’ll hold off on the paparazzi.
Now here’s where I really divert from the “true” bullet journal system….
I’m a writer so I like to write. My rambles can’t be contained in bullet points and boxes so I don’t even try. Instead, I flip my journal over and upside down, and from there I brainstorm, mind map, flesh out story ideas and blather on about the day. This space is ugly, inventive and totally me!
There you have it, folks—my bullet journal. If you’d like to see a few more pages, visit my Instagram alter ego.
Now, please be brave and show me a picture of yours. I’d love to hear your ideas!

Yeah I like bullets best too.

I just started a bullet journal for my blog – I really like it! I have an Erin Condren Life Planner that I use for everything else, but I am thinking of combining them into a bullet journal. There are so many pretty spreads (which I know mine would not quite be at that level), and I really like the index feature. Of course this is coming from someone who has notebooks everywhere – I constantly need to get the information out of my brain!

I LOVE notebooks, all notebooks and have them everywhere too! Now that I have my Bujo, I stick to one. Mine is a Moleskine, but I have a Leuchteurm on hand and ready to go 😀
